A school friend posted on facebook that she’d just bought a bundle of ponies from a charity shop for a ridiculously low price, and her kids were having a whale of a time with them. She also found it funny that someone was trying to sell Blossom (just normal concave foot, nothing special) on eBay for £500. I pointed to that bloody Daily Mail article and was very sneering at the likelihood of anyone finding a special pony in their attic.

Then I took a second look at her new ponies. Then I told her that she’d just proved that bloody article right. She’d bought Nachtlicht for pennies. She thought about it for a few hours and decided she didn’t want the responsibility of owning a much sought-after pony when her kids were just going to rough play with her. So, would I like to buy her? I countered with yes, but let me give your kids some ponies to make up for the loss. We came to terms, had a furtive exchange outside of a hotel, felt like spies for a moment, and both walked away pleased with our end of the sale.

(I also wrote her kids a note from the ponies I sent over, so they could get to know them.)

Also included in the sale was Starshine and Flutterbye. My own Flutterbye looked slightly different, so I wanted to explore this further.
